Owner: Ministry of Transportation
Scope: Heavy Civil - Bridge Construction
Delivery Model: Design-Bid-Build (DBB)
Budget: 28.5 Million
Year Complete: 2020

The construction of new two new side by side bridge structures completing the Herb Grey Parkway project. The site had many issues to deal with including poor soil conditions, utilities, environmentally sensitive areas, rail and highway corridors.

The new bridges are 192 m multi-span steel tub girders with cast-in-place concrete deck. The bridge construction included over 4000 m3 of concrete with the largest placement occurring over a 24 hr period with 1,000 m3 being placed on the bridge deck. The approach leading up to the bridge required approx 18,000 m3 of cellular lightweight concrete due to the poor soil conditions. The new bridge will service the Hwy 401 leading to the Gordie Howe International Bridge between the United States of America and Canada.
